I had to choose a composer and a design period to reference. I chose Constructivism because I have always admired how the artists in this era used only the basics. They produced beautiful designs with only focusing on line, shape, form, and the spatial relationships that these things created. I chose a Russian typeface to go along with the time period and the color palate also reflects the Constructivism period. I stuck with only one typeface because this typeface is complicated enough on its own. Since he was a composer, I simplified a piano using only the shapes of the keys to move the viewer’s eye through the poster and to frame his portrait.
